Closet Organizer Tips
Closets can be a real mess. Luckily, there is a way to deal with the problem: Closet organizers. Closet organizers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and the size of the closet should be a consideration.
Also, the purpose of the closet organizer should be considered as well. So, before you buy, here are some considerations.
Small Closets
In this case, the idea is to take full advantage of the limited space provided, and to basically hide things from normal view. In this situation, closet organizers that would be most likely chosen would be those that fit in the top of the closet, and hang from the bar.
Small shelves may be considered, but aren't likely to fit. Also of consideration would bankers' boxes (flattened boxes that are readily constructed, with lids), to fully use the bottom space.
Larger Closets
In this case, the closet is big enough to hold a lot of clothes, but isn't quite a walk-in closet. The best closet organizers for this are those that stack, and so stay to the sides of the closet. In this case you are looking at the various plastic stackables, especially as they are great for getting rid of the majority of clutter, and increasing the amount of storage space available.
With the right stackables, the size of a closet can almost triple. Also, hanging closet organizers can be fun to place, as they allow you to find commonly used items quickly.
Walk-in Closets
These can be fun for the home decorator. A variety of closet organizers work here, and shelving actually becomes efficient. Don't put too much shelving up, or it can no longer be used for clothing. Also, bear in mind what you will be storing there, as different items require different storage space. A comic book collection, for example, needs remarkably small space, but a gun collection requires some security. Also, don't be afraid to mix in some of the other types of storage, especially if the purpose of the closet organizer is to help create storage space.
Pantries
Although not technically a closet, the same basics apply. Of special note, however, is that the pantry must remain clean, uncluttered, and moisture-free. Thus occasional re-organizing is necessary. Also, bins and canisters become a necessary sort of closet organizer.
Closet organizers have a great function when it comes to organizing your life, and when used right, can be a great assistance to you. Just remember to keep in mind your available space and you can make your closet organizers work for you instead of against you.
