Decorative Ceiling Tile

Decorative ceiling tile is a great addition to a home to give it a bit of extra splash and pizzazz. Decorative ceiling tile will make any interior more beautiful and will be a wonderful addition to a home. If you need a bit more life in your room and would rather not paint, decorative ceiling tile is a good alternative solution. Try adding patterns or a solid color to add some elegance to the room.

Decorative ceiling tile is easy to install. The tiles are light weight so can usually be done with one person though having a helper will be good to help hold them in place while they are affixed to the ceiling. Decorative ceiling tile can be adhered using nails or staples or even adhesive. The tiles are durable and easy to clean using household products. Most cleaning will involve dusting with occasional cleaning with a mild detergent and water.

Decorative tile can be painted or left in its natural state. When installing the tile you should make a diagram of your ceiling using graph paper or a computer program so you can measure the number of tiles needed. You should start from the center of the ceiling and work your way out making sure you have as many whole tiles as possible.

Once you get to the edge of the ceiling you may need to cut the tiles around the perimeter of the room. It is better to cut tiles all the way around the perimeter of the room so it is an even, symmetrical look rather than starting from one side of the room and going to the other side having one side with smaller cut tiles. Starting from the center and working your way out will make the ceiling look a lot more attractive.

Once you have the number of decorative ceiling tile pieces calculated, you can go to a supplier to purchase the number you need. Decorative ceiling tile can be found in home interior stores, home improvement stores and on the Internet. When purchasing the tiles and receiving them, you should check each tile in order to ensure that none are broken or damaged.

You should do this before starting the installation so you will not have to stop mid project to get more tiles or return broken tiles. This can be especially cumbersome if you have purchased decorative ceiling tile over the Internet and need to deal with extra time for shipping.

If you are purchasing plain tiles with an intention of painting them, you should let any adhesive that id on the tiles cure for at least twenty four hours. Alternately, you can pre paint the tiles, allow them to dry then install them. After letting it dry twenty four to forty eight hours, you can then touch up any parts with a little less effort then if you were to do the entire thing.

Decorative ceiling tile is an easy to install, fun way to add a bit of splash to the room. In a weekend you can take a dull, lifeless room and turn it into an elegant, sophisticated room. Adding geometric patterns to the tile will add some interest to the ceiling and is especially nice in a dining area where you may want some added color and dimension.
