Vinyl Trellis Lattice

For building or adding growing supports for the vining plants in your yard, vinyl trellis lattice offers many advantages over other options. You could go the recycling route, and use iron bedsteads for your plants, but these can be expensive or hard to come by.

Wood is another option. It's beautiful, but it doesn't last well in wet or harsh weather. It will probably need to be painted or finished occasionally. Some artistic people bend native twigs into lattice. These are pretty, but take an eye for artistry. Nothing quite beats the ease and durability of vinyl trellis lattice.

Vinyl Advantage

As far as durability and ease of use, here are some of the advantages of vinyl trellis lattice. For one thing, it will never require painting - a simple swish with a soapy rag from time to time will restore it's original look. In wet weather, you don't have to worry about vinyl, because it doesn't absorb water. This means it will not rot or blister. Wood not only rots and absorbs water. It is also quite expensive when compared to vinyl.

Vinyl trellis lattice is textured to look like wood-grain. Often it comes in white, looking like freshly painted white wood. A very effective design to use in the yard is that of a trellis attached to a vinyl flower box. The flowers or vines can be planted in the planter on the front, and then trained to grow up the trellis in the back. Typically, a ready made lattice/flower planter combination costs less than $200.

Arbors

Vinyl trellis lattice is also used for arbors and other forms of trellises. Gates and fences can be made of vinyl, too, giving the appearance of painted wood without the maintenance headaches. There are a few drawbacks to using vinyl, however.

For one thing, cheaper grades of vinyl products can be subject to cracking or breaking over time. Also, vinyl can expand and contract with changes of temperature. It can also buckle under the weight of a roof or other item. Wood is less likely to expand and contract, and more likely to stay rigid than vinyl trellis lattice is.

Lattice Dividers

Vinyl trellis lattice units made with planters attached can be used in the yard or garden to mark off areas for different purposes. For instance, if you have a swimming pool, the pool area can be surrounded by vinyl lattice, creating a visible divider. White vinyl lattice with flowers growing up it look beautiful when incorporated into the decor for an outdoor wedding. Arbors and gates of vinyl, and even a gazebo, also fit well into the outdoor wedding theme.

For use in outdoor entertaining, or for a wedding, you can get a small table that attaches to the back of the vinyl trellis lattice. This offers a place for a small selection of refreshments, gifts for the bride and groom, or perhaps the guest book and pen for signing.

Vinyl trellis lattice is made of vinyl that has been treated to be stable in UV light. A really beautiful design offered by some manufacturers of vinyl lattice yard accents is an arched arbor with a trellis on the back and seating for two on the front, underneath the arbor. With vining plants such as morning glories or clematis growing up over the arbor, this makes a romantic outdoor spot to visit.
